Jamaican Treasure: Lashings Boutique Hotel – Authentic Charm, Budget friendly

Quick Facts

Who is it for: Lashings hotel is a perfect getaway for couples, families and a group of friends looking for a relaxing vibe.

What it is NOT: It is not an all inclusive resort (intentionally; to support local businesses) but offers a scenic restaurant and bar with a variety of gourmet meals and drinks and most local places are just a 5 to 10 minute drive. You can also arrange transportation with Lashings, including the complimentary shuttle to their Beach Club. There is no gym or spa.

Tip: Make sure to explore the surrounding areas and visit Callaloo Boutique where you’ll find the most amazing local art, jewelry, clothes, skin care and souvenirs.

Also, most of the bathrooms have an open concept, where there are no dividers.

“Lashings” means a copious amount of something – especially food or drinks and the Lashings Boutique hotel is perfect for just that, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy a glass of rum punch and jerk chicken with steamed vegetables, while admiring the Caribbean Sea. Lashings Boutique hotel is located in Treasure Beach – known as the “little place with the big heart”- in St. Elizabeth. Treasure Beach is a string of fishing villages on the unspoilt south coast of Jamaica.

Known as the home of community tourism, this is an area with no chain resorts and tourist traps, instead all its properties are owned by individuals with a common goal – to support each other for the benefit of all. Staying at Lashings hotel not only is an unforgettable experience but a fulfilling one –  as you are directly giving back to the local community. In addition to supporting local artists, Lashings prides itself in sponsoring the local football team, Likkle Swimmers children’s charity, the AngelFish recycling scheme and many other local causes.

Restaurant in the Tree

The Tree Top Bar Grill and Pizzeria at Lashings hotel is open everyday from 8:30am to 9:30pm. There is a full bar with lots of cocktail options as well as wines and beers. The breakfast menu is available all day and the main menu (lunch/dinner) begins at 12pm. The main menu consists of appetizers, salads, seafood dishes, burgers and sandwiches, local dishes, international dishes, a good variety of pizzas and desserts. The restaurant accepts local and international cards and room service is offered. Note, you can enjoy the freshly cooked gourmet meals at the restaurant even if you are not a guest or order take away.

Rooms

Lashings has 11 rooms, 5 villa rooms, 2 penthouse suites, a 2 room garden cottage and 10 suites at its beach club. No two rooms or villas are exactly alike and all ooze personality, adding to the charm and appeal of the Lashings experience.

The top-tier room is the penthouse suite, which has two master bedrooms with an open design, that is both minimalist and contemporary in concept that comfortably fit a family of 4. Each room has a king size bed with A/C, a flat screen TV, a desk, en-suite bathroom, closet space and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to the balcony.

The wooden deck balcony is very spacious with arm chairs, a coffee table, a hammock, and a dining space overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the gorgeous infinity pool.

The penthouse suite also has a separate kitchen space that is fully equipped with dishes, silverware, glasses, pots and pans, an electric tea kettle, a full size fridge and a gas stove.

To provide the best ocean views, the penthouse suite is tucked up in the hill and there are many stairs to climb to get up there — but it’s totally worth it!

Overall, the hotel offers comfortable rooms at reasonable rates that are quite budget friendly. To get the best rates and experience KareemsQuest.com recommended visiting the property on the weekend.
