Robin’s Bay Hideaway: Is This Your Paradise?

Written by Kareem LaTouche

When you’re doing a tour with Kareem’s Quest, you’re in for a truly Jamaican experience, and sometimes I head far from the tourist hot spots to find the hidden gems. After our last outing to the Maroon Culture yard in Portland, it was time for some sun, sand, and a dash of that famous Jamaican spice! That’s why I picked Robin’s Bay in St. Mary – a gem offering incredible views and that laidback charm you can only find here.

The Flavorful Journey

A Kareem’s Quest tour wouldn’t be complete without a foodie stop. This time, we landed at Castleton, right across from the police station. There, a legendary soup vendor has been serving up steaming bowls of magic since the wee hours of the morning. Her yellow yam comes fresh from Trelawny, and the other ingredients are sourced from nearby markets.

The goat head soup, we were told by the vendor, would give the men the ‘strength of a lion.’ I saw more than a few smiles from their partners at that revelation! Once satisfied, we continued through the picturesque St. Mary Junction. A word of warning – if you’re prone to motion sickness, this winding road might require a few scenic breaks.

A Hidden Paradise

Robin’s Bay lies a touch off the main path, making it a true local hideaway. Upon arrival, secure parking greets you, and your eyes feast on a stunning carpet of lush green grass. This 18-acre haven is the perfect place to mingle with friendly Jamaicans and soak up the culture.

Strawberry Fields… By the Sea

The name “Strawberry Fields Together” kept popping into my head as we explored. Imagine two pristine white sand coves, fringed by shade trees where lovebirds lounge.

The young ones are busy snapping selfies with the Caribbean sea as their backdrop, totally in their element.

Even the little ones have a blast at the play area with a slide and swing set. It’s pure, carefree joy.

Picnic tables and comfy chill-out spots are peppered all over the property, so pack a basket or head to the restaurant (just remember those orders need to be placed beforehand). Feeling completely blissed out? Opt for one of the rustic yet charming on-site lodgings – most have stunning sea views. They come with private bathrooms, free WiFi, and delightful outdoor seating. Some even have full kitchens for those who love whipping up their own island dishes. of rivers that run through the area, hence I had to cross many bridges.
