Heartist and Antoine are not your typical couple. This dynamic duo, born in Madagascar and Haiti respectively, met in the most unexpected way in France, and their love story has since unfolded across continents, painted in vibrant hues and reggae rhythms.
Watch their love story below
A Ring, a Chance Encounter, and a Spark
Heartist, an artist with a passion for painting since childhood, found her life intertwined with Antoine’s through a serendipitous twist of fate. She left a ring at a friend’s place, a ring that caught Antoine’s eye. He, a nature lover with a laid-back personality and a deep love for reggae, began wearing it. When Heartist returned for her ring, the discovery led to an awkward encounter, but instead of confrontation, a spark ignited.
Laughter, Reggae, and a Bold Move: Madagascar Beckons
Their connection blossomed, fueled by laughter, shared reggae grooves, and a yearning for adventure. In a bold move, they decided to retrace Antoine’s roots and embark on a new life in Madagascar. There, they opened a thriving art cafe, their creative spirits blending beautifully. However, the demands of running a business took their toll, and they opted for a one-year break, returning to France to recharge.
Island Allure: A New Chapter in Jamaica
With renewed energy, their wanderlust returned, and this time, the Caribbean island of Jamaica beckoned. The tranquility of Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, with its stunning coastline, stole their hearts.

Heartist, inspired by the island’s natural beauty, immersed herself in water painting, her talent catching the eye of renowned children’s book author Brigitte Andres.
This led to several collaborations, including illustrations for the books “Mertuga” and “Caribbean Legends” (click the link to purchase these books).
Beyond Brushes: Exploring New Artistic Avenues
Heartist’s creativity extends beyond canvas. She delves into other mediums, showcasing her work at various events. Antoine, too, expresses himself through art, both painting and multimedia creations. Recently, Heartist discovered her connection to the Malagasy ethnic group, the Tanala, “people of the forest.” This newfound identity has fueled her sculpting passion, with paper clay and gypsum becoming her tools of choice.
Her seashell-incorporated sculptures are a true testament to her artistic ingenuity.
A Simple Life, Rich in Connection
When not creating, Heartist and Antoine relish the simple pleasures of life in Jamaica. Cooking outdoors, planting trees, swinging in their hammock, and observing nature’s wonders fill their days. They walk to visit friends, their car less lifestyle a testament to their connection with the community and the environment, as Heartist jokes, “we don’t have any car.”
A Love Story Painted in Reggae Rhythms
Heartist and Antoine’s love story is a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of chance encounters, artistic pursuits, and a deep connection to nature. Their journey, from France to Madagascar and finally to Jamaica, shows the power of love, adventure, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. As they continue to paint their lives with reggae rhythms and island hues, their story is an inspiration to all who dare to dream and chase their passions, wherever they may lead.
