Victor Dixon is a man with a passion for cars. He has turned his hobby of restoring old vehicles into a unique business in Jamaica, where he rents out his collection of classic and antique cars for special occasions. Whether it is a wedding, a party, a photoshoot, or a music video, Victours can provide a touch of elegance and nostalgia with its fleet of vintage automobiles.
From Toy Cars to Real Cars
Dixon’s love for cars started when he was a child in Mandeville, where he used to make toy cars out of lumber and rubbish. He did not have the money to buy real cars until 1999, when he purchased his first vehicle, a 1971 Rover P6. He still keeps it in his garage, along with many other cars he has acquired over the years.
He then joined the classic car club and started attending car shows, where he admired the beauty and craftsmanship of old vehicles. He also developed a knack for finding and restoring cars that were in poor condition, giving them a new lease on life.
The Story of the Chevy Apache 10
One of Dixon’s most popular and eye-catching vehicles is the 1960 Chevrolet Apache 10, a truck that he bought from his college batchmate’s father. The truck was in a rusty state when he first saw it in Spanish Town, but he had a vision of how it would look when it was finished.
He put it on a wrecker and brought it to his home, where he began the long and tedious process of restoration. It took him 11 years to complete the project, which involved sourcing parts, repairing the bodywork, and upgrading the engine and interior.

He decided to do a ‘restomod’, which means keeping some elements of the original vehicle while adding some modern features that make it more comfortable and powerful. The truck now has a 350cc engine with eldebrock RPM aluminum heads, B&M supercharger, a Holley 850 carburetor, and a 550 horsepower 6 lbs boost. It also has sports suspension, porcelain floor tiles, leather interior, and Korean countertops.
The truck is a hit among young people at car shows, who love to take pictures with it. Dixon’s wife also declared it her favorite truck.
Victours: A Business with a Difference
Dixon realized that he could share his passion for classic cars with others by renting them out for special events. He started Victours, a company that offers something unique to Jamaica. He has a variety of vehicles to choose from, such as a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, an E type Jaguar, and a 1931 Ford Model A.
He caters to clients who want to add some flair and charm to their occasions, such as weddings, birthday parties, corporate social events, photoshoots, and music videos. He has worked with celebrities such as Shaggy and Ding Dong, who have used his vehicles for their shows and videos.
He takes good care of his vehicles by towing them from parish to parish to avoid wear and tear. He also provides a driver with the vehicle, although the client can choose to have the driver leave and return later for more privacy.
Dixon said that his business is something new to the island and that he wants to spread the word about it. He said that people want to experience his vehicles but they don’t know that they are available in Jamaica.
Dixon said that he is proud of his work and that he enjoys seeing people happy with his vehicles, and he hopes to inspire others to pursue their passions and dreams.
His business is a testament to Dixon’s love for cars and his skill in restoring them. It is also an opportunity for people to enjoy a taste of history and luxury with his vehicles.
