Yaaman is an adventure park, in Prospect, St. Mary, that seems to always add something different to its activities, and one of their new offerings is ziplining. Sitting on over 50 acres of land, it made perfect sense for them to include another fun activity.

After going through the usual registration routine, kareemsquest.com was brought to a central area which has a mini zipline setup with a deck. This is where instructions are given and persons go through a test run.

Let the fun begin

Once this is successfully completed kareemsquest.com then headed up to the starting point, which is the 7th station. This deck is built on a tree and is quite easy to climb, as the steps are broad and there are guard rails to hold on to. When you are at the ledge, the tour guide will ask you to sit in the harness and to hold the clip in such a way as to not turn.

The gradient for this one is quite moderate and so kareemsquest.com moved at a speed that was manageable and great for an introduction to the tour.

The 5th point has the longest journey on the zipline and provides a lovely aerial view of the property. Below was an open road, where persons with ATVs were driving by, as well as the Jitney tour was taking place (you can read more about these tours by clicking this link). It’s good, when moving along the line, to observe all of these things as it makes the moment unique. There is also a photographer on point, who is capturing these special occasions, so be mindful where he is located in order to get a good pose for the camera.

There is a stopping mechanism that will be used to slow down persons, and at first kareemsquest.com found it a little jolting. The best way to avoid this feeling is to learn how to minimise the constant turning of the clip that is used to slide on the rope.

Get to be one with nature

To get to the next point we had to come down from the tree and take a nature trail. The tour guides use this opportunity to teach us about the various trees on the property and their benefits. Then kareemsquest.com went on to a swinging bridge, which was a nice addition and it took us to our next zip lining starting point.

This is where the adrenaline really kicks in as the gradient is very steep and we were very high in the air. Looking down, all kareemsquest.com could see was a forest filled with pimento trees. Once we got moving, the pace was very fast and the excitement went up another level. This stretch is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Don’t look down!

We were then brought to a suspended deck, which was about 50 ft above the ground. The surface area is also quite modest and, as such, persons are encouraged not to look down. What was beautiful for us was the cotton tree that was blooming at the time. However we made it clear to the tour guide that we wanted to get to the next deck, as quickly as possible lol.

For the next stretch, participants will have to do some work to get to the platform. The momentum from the starting point will take persons 95% of the way.  The tour guide will then give the instruction to turn with your back facing the destination and pull yourself, using the bottom rope, to get to the platform. It does take a little energy, but it is not hard to do.

Final Splash!

The final leg ends with a big splash, literally, as the zipline will take you in a pool filled with water!
