Unlike the sprawling mega-resorts that dominate the Jamaican coast, Zoetry embraced intimacy. With less than 50 rooms, it felt like a boutique haven. Yet, the cosy lobby bustled with life. Families huddled around board games, their laughter weaving through the air. A grand piano occupied a corner, hinting at the possibility of an impromptu evening serenade. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the property, I couldn’t fully appreciate the visual feast; that would have to wait until morning.

But wait I wouldn’t. Luckily, my arrival coincided with a vibrant Mexican night at the Coyaba Restaurant. The aroma of sizzling fajitas and tangy salsa filled the air as a live band seamlessly transitioned between Jamaican classics and international hits. The staff, with their genuine smiles and attentive service, became an extension of the welcoming atmosphere.

My room, assigned by a personal butler (yes, you read that right!), was a blend of comfort. It was a Junior Suite, but it felt like a private sanctuary. A platter of exotic fruits, their vibrant hues mirroring the approaching sunset, greeted me on the table. Most rooms here, I discovered, offered similar indulgence – private balconies, some with the added luxury of swim-out pools, and the pièce de résistance? Many bathtubs were nestled on balconies, inviting guests to soak under the star-studded Jamaican sky.

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the palm trees, revealing the resort’s true beauty. Canoa, a cosy haven with a deck nestled right on the sea, became my morning refuge. The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore formed the soundtrack as I savoured my curried saltfish and bammy – a local delicacy that tantalised with its unique blend of textures and flavours. The staff, ever present but never intrusive, ensured every need was met with a smile.

The beach itself rivalled the famed 7 Mile Beach in Negril. The turquoise water, calm and shallow, beckoned with the promise of carefree splashing.

Hunger pangs led me to Jerky Jo’s, where jerk sausage and chicken, infused with a symphony of Jamaican spices, became my lunch obsession.

Beyond the beach and delectable treats, Zoetry offered a haven for relaxation. A spa promised rejuvenation, a gym catered to the fitness enthusiasts, and a dedicated hot tub area offered a spot for blissful seclusion.

By the end of the weekend, Zoetry Montego Bay wasn’t just a resort; it was a memory etched in my senses. The calming aroma of the lobby, the vibrant flavours of local cuisine, the gentle caress of the Caribbean Sea – these were the souvenirs I carried back with me, proof of a truly unique and unforgettable Jamaican escape.
