5. Dirt Adventure
What is it known for – ATV rides
Boscobel, St. Mary
Williams has seen his dream slowly become a reality, as he is now open to the public for seven days of the week, with Saturdays being his busiest day. To add to the experience, there is also a boat ride along the coastline of Ocho Rios. “My family had a piece of property that was sitting idle, so I decided to carve out a racetrack on it, which took us nine months of hard labour to accomplish, because the place was like a forest,” Williams tells kareemsquest.com.

4. Jamnesia
What is it known for – Learning how to Surf
Bull Bay, St. Andrew
Now the expert surfer, with his shoulder-length golden locks, caused by the excess exposure to the sun and seawater, is also a surf instructor. During the mornings and weekends, when the tide is suitable, he spends most of his time teaching lessons. “Surfing is heavily dependent on the weather; sometimes the water is calm, but most of the days the current is strong, and we get really good waves.”

3. Jay’s Guesthouse
What is it known for – Hiking the Blue Mountains
Epping Farm, St. Thomas/St. Andrew
Located along the border of St Thomas, Jay’s Guest House has steadily been making a name for itself as a place to stay when hiking the Blue Mountains.
“The guest house has been around for some years now. We started back in 2015 and did some refurbishing, then we officially opened in January 2016,” revealed owner Aden Jackson.

Joe James was a prolific Jamaican artist, whose work has been shown throughout the world. Having spent some time in Europe, he decided to return to Jamaica in the 60’s and establish a gallery for himself. Now when persons visit the property, they can dine at the restaurant, view the art gallery or book a room at the hotel.

We marvelled at the fresh air and the lack of pollution, after which Wilks began to tell me about his family’s role at the property. “My grandfather had a dream for this property, he always saw it as a tourist destination. At that time, it was just one house on the property, and one and two tourists would come periodically. Then my mother, Linnette Wilks, took it to another level, as we now have 12 rooms.”
